Working hard!

I have just completed a few items from Becky Erickson's Tennessee Ridge Primitives Patterns - I love her! and her patterns!!
This first item is supposed to be a girl witch but isn't it funny how sometimes the item you're working on tells you how it wants to look...because he is all male! His dark mysterious eyes peek out from under the brim of his witches hat. Holding his black cat, he is contemplating all sorts of tricks for Halloween night and of course, how not to get caught!

27 inch Boy Witch holding Black Cat

The auction number for him is 120771924413

The other item is this gorgeous centerpiece Witches Hat and Crow with Primitive Broom. I love this piece. Nothing says Halloween like a Witches Hat! and this one is a nice size at 15 inches tall and 9 inches wide. This would look great displayed anywhere inside your home or even outside on a bench or a set of steps...
The auction number for this item is 120772741680
So Becky if you are watching, I hope I did you proud! and keep those primitive patterns coming!!!!
Until next time...Prim Blessings!

Autumn is in the Air!Everyone is busy making pumpkins, scarecrows, witches and such! I love it! The oranges, yellows, reds, browns... the warm colors of Fall that makes you feel all cozy inside. The cool night air, crickets chirping and pretty sunsets. I love this time of year and will enjoy the next few months.
Speaking of love...
I have come across one of the best pattern makers in the prim world, Tennessee Ridge Primitives by Becky Erickson. If you haven't heard of her, you have to give her a holler. I absolutely love her patterns.
They are very detailed and very easy to understand. She just says it like it is, no guess work involved. She is a super lady that strives to satisfy her customers and loves fed back. You can find her at www.tennesseeridgeprimitives.com and I just know she would love to hear from you! I have just finished a few of her patterns and have a few more in the works. These are posted on ebay and are up for auction this week along with all of the other awesome antiques and primitives flying off the shelves right now. One thing her patterns call for is cinnamon, lots and lots of cinnamon!

I have been baking more cinnamon these past couple weeks then my poor boys can stand. They come running into the kitchen when the smells waft down the halls and through the house only to find Mama baking a cat head sprinkled with cinnamon...again!
Sorry the pics are so big, I'm not computer literate at all! And just lucky to get them up! Ha! But I'm tryin! Like the song goes...Oh Lord, I'm tryin!

I have been invited to join the Handmade Art Fair ladies and what an honor to be a part of such talent!

Brenda Sanker of The Vintage Polka Dot so graciously made this button for me
Isn't he cute?! And isn't she a sweetheart?! Thanks Brenda!!

How about a Rusty update before I turn in...She is doing great! Her surgery was a piece of cake, she slept it off really and was back on her feet in just a couple of days. Her brothers took extra good care of her. Animals amaze me! They were nervous the day of her surgery and with the fact that she was gone all day. Then when she came home instead of tackling her as usual, they tiptoed around her, gave her soft nudges and kisses. They layed next to her oh so gently. Animals are so good for the soul and are so Impressive! Thanks to everyone who sent prayers and notes...it means alot to us! So off to work on more witches and ghosts, scarecrows and pumpkins and the like. Maybe I'll even make my boys some real food topped with cinnamon!! Won't they be surprised!

Shaker Woods Festival

I just got back from the Shaker Woods Festival in Columbiana, Oh. and let me tell you, there were some very talented people selling their crafts there. I stopped by a few primitives boothes and was just blown away at the awesome things they had created. If you get a chance, you gotta go! It will be running for the next three weekends.
Primitive Gatherings, Back Door Primitives and my absolute favorite Country at Heart to name a few had alot of pretty prim dolls but mostly halloween items up for sale today. They are also on-line so stop in and say hello to the gals.
I even saw some humpty dumpty dolls that I recognized as a pattern from Lucys Lazy Dayz. Lucy, you would have been proud! She did a great job!!
The weather was great, blue skies and a lovely breeze. Hubbs and I had a most wonderfully relaxing day.

I have been working on a few dolls that will be going up for auction on ebay. One is this pumpkin doll that will be hard to part with, I love her!! She is so creepy and yet she is beautiful also. How do you like the spider on her hat? I hot glued a little bell to a big bell and attatched some wire for legs then painted black, pretty cool, huh? I have two large black dolls in the making and an americana girl also.
Someone had posted on creating the hive about a new selling market called groove press. I signed up with a special deal of buy one month for 8.99 get 5 months free. You can't really go wrong with that deal, right?! So now I'm selling on etsy, ebay and groove press. If you have heard of this new market or if you are selling there too drop me a line and let me know how you like it.
Rusty is doing well and fitting in just right! She is scheduled to be spayed next sat. so say some prayers for her if you have a minute. Thanks for all of the emails and blessings sent her way...we love it!! I read them all to her!! Take care and prim blessings

Is everyone hot enough?

It is sooo hot in Sharon, Pa that my dogs don't even want to go outside! I open the door and they back away and head towards an air vent...central air...I could kiss the inventor and so could the dogs! I found a little sweetheart of a girl on the freeway almost two weeks ago and haven't found her owner. The tags, address and name given to the court house were invalid. So...we are keeping her! We named her Rusty and she fits in just right with our other fur babies and now I'm not the only girl in the house...Whoohoooo!!!
Isn't she adorable?
This picture was taken at midnight after an hour long walk. I opened the door and they took off tearin through the house, chasing each other and finally they ended up in bed ready for a nap! I have contacted the vet and she will be out next week to look her over and update her shots. I am planning on getting her spayed next month as well.

Happy Fathers Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day! We had a cook out for my sweet Daddy and planted a lilac bush in his yard for his present. Dierdre baked a yummy raspberry pie for the occasion (thanks sweetie!) and hubby made his famous deviled eggs, yum! My son Cody and his girl Kayley came home from Cleveland and they started my day by jumping in bed with me!! Literally jumping and rolling, huggin and kissin! 8:30 am, in our quiet as a church house, giggles erupted! The sounds of pure bliss filled the house. If you are a mama and your child leaves the nest you know what I mean! and there is no better way to start your day, than opening your eyes and seeing the ones you love...home!!!

Why was I still asleep at 8:30 in the morn' you ask? Lazy Bones? No...not me! We went to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers home opener the night before. What fun! They didn't win but we'll get 'em next time!! I love watching the Scrappers play cuz they play from the heart! I don't think Justin and Dierdre watched the game at all though...they were too busy eating!!! hot dogs, french fries, ice cream! anything they could get their hands on! There was even someone dressed up as "where's Waldo" in the stands...we made Dierdre go grab him and say "I found Waldo!" for her ice cream cone. What? Parents are suppose to humiliate there kids and their friends, right?

I just knew that a fly ball would come straight at me so I warned my hubby and son to be ready to save mama and wouldn't you know it one did! I threw my jacket up over my head (like the prim chick-en that I am) and my dear sweet hubby threw his body over top of me! The ball was just inches above him and the person sitting behind us grabbed it! My hero!!!!!!! I'll have to bake that man a cake! I even got to see an old high school friend there, Ken Sakely. It was great to see him and catch up! We graduated in 1988...where has the time gone?! Moral of the story? Get out and have some fun!!!

I sold olde Charlie Barrett and his fishin pole (my ooak design) and this prim bear looking for honey (an olde homestead barn pattern by Vicki) over the weekend, thank you buyers!! I will work on getting more of these items back up for sale in my etsy shop...just as soon as I can!
Speaking of primitives! Have you signed up at my etsy shop to be entered into my open house's grand prize drawing yet? It is going to be held the weekend of the 16th and 17th of July. Yea! Summer is here...finally! It is so nice to be able to go outside once again. My strawberries are blooming and oh so yummy, Pea pods are climbing and the cukes are vining. It is a lovely thing! I wasn't sure it was ever going to get here.

Here are the pics of Justin and Dierdre at the Prom, that I promised!!!!!

Aren't they gorgeous?! They danced all night long, stopping only twice to get a drink. Ahhh, to be young again. Ok maybe not, I'll just live vicariously through them lol!

I have just finished a wonderful sitting prim bear

from an olde homestead barn pattern made by Vicki. Isn't he adorable with his hand caught in the "cookie jar" skep and honey dripping down his chin?!

How about those bees buzzing all around him? Too Cute! He is 21 x 14 and weight about 3 1/2 lbs. You can find him listed on etsy @ angelbugprims.

Prom Week

My sweet angel, Justin and his girlfriend Dierdre are attending Prom this Friday evening!! So to say the least this has been a busy week with shoe shopping and tux renting, bouquet and boutonnière buying, hair cutting and beard trimming...yes he has a beard lol!! This is our (I mean his heehee) first prom and we are sooo excited!!
I will post lots of pics next week!!!!

So what else is happening this week, hummm? I had a special request to make a doll for a sweetheart named -- Krista. She needed a replica of a childhood doll with some very specific dimensions...8.7 inches long and 14 ounces in weight with the dolls head circumference of 15 cm. hummm I thought. Doesn't sound too hard to work out. Until I tried to stuff 14 ounces into that tiny 8.7 inch frame!! Well let me tell you how frustrating that was!!! I never really weighed my dolls before and until you are trying to make something about a pound you don't really estimate just what that calls for. one pound of fiber fill or fabric scraps or weighted washers (my hubby's garage stash...shhh! don't tell 'em!) could fill a grocery bag!! lol!! Over the next day or two I racked my already racked brain and couldn't come up with anything quite heavy enough. As I looked over my craft table and the nine or ten dead doll bodys that were piling up as complete failures, I grabbed some girlfriends (and some guy friends) and we brain stormed!! I have to give credit where credit is due...Lucy from Lucys Lazy Dayz (stop by her website and say hi to her!!! Tell her I sent you!!!) was a big help and she suggested sand...dun dun dah (wrapped in plastic of course!) and sewn into a muslin pouch! Genius!!!
So off to the supply store I went to gets me some sand...when wait...my phone's ringing...it's hubby...he has a solution...granet!!! For all of you out there that don't know what granet is, it is a semi precious stone that when ground into a grain, is like a clean and heavy sand. It's brownish red and worked like a charm!!! Thanks hubby!!! So Krista - I hope you like your semi precious stone filled dolly!!! How many girls can say their dolls are stuffed with semi precious stones!! Lucky Girl!!

I have been on a roll with Americana items this week as well and have listed them on my etsy shop, angelbugprims and here they are:

Patriotic Papa, Baby Libby and Sammy the sheep! $76.00 for the set of 3!! Free shipping as always, too!

I went on ebay this week and picked out some crazy fabrics!!! one has owls on it...cute!!! one has peace signs and one has cowgirls flirting with cowboys, ha! what a hoot!!! said the first fabric. I wonder what I will make with these?! I am off and into my craft room to crank the stereo up and see what kind of magic I can make! I will leave you with a song! I hope it gets stuck in your head!!lol!! Until next week...C U Then

I scoff in the face of pressure!

I love to craft! I've been crafting as long as I can remember. I learned how to sew from Home ec. class (grade 5-12 religously). I loved it!! Thank you Mrs. Stacey!!
Some of my favorite things to make are soaps, candles, tote bags, quilts, pillows, tissue covers, dolls...the list goes on and on. If I don't know how to make something (I love a good challenge!) I study it and experiment and work, work, work at it until I get it right! My favorite way to learn is for someone to "show me" how to do something. I guess that makes me a visual learner and someone who appreciates you tube videos! So after viewing several very talented ladies sewing up a storm...I took to my craft room and picked out two complimentary fabrics and decided to make a messenger/hip bag. I began to measure and cut and pin and sew. A couple hours later I finished this...

Isn't it adorable?! You can find this for sale on etsy @ angelbugprims!! I just love how it turned out! So I decided to make an americana style bag also:

This will also be at angelbugprims on etsy!! along with a few other new creations I managed to complete this week!
Last week, I found myself working on out of season items, as you'll recall, so I pressured myself by promising to get back on track with my crafting. I needed to make Mother's Day, Americana and Springtime prims and crafts. Well, I did it! I finished 5 items! I scoff in the face of pressure! These two bags are just some of the items that will be newly listed on etsy.
I love to talk to new people and make new friends so drop me a line here or convo me on etsy and let me know what you think!!

One day, a few years back, I was wandering (blindly) around the internet, when I stumbled across a primitive site. I got all warm and tingly feeling in my belly and as this sensation flowed to my arms and legs and settled in my heart, I realized...I love prim! If you can see something old and rusty and appreciate the value and history of this unique item, you are a prim lover too and you know what I mean! and so now I buy new material and soak it in prim juice and bake it in the oven, paint it and sand it.
I take this new material and beat the living day lights out of it until it looks like it was dug up by an archeology dig studying pioneer days. No one ever said primitive crafting was sane! I wonder what the ladies of the 1800s would think of us crazy crafters nowadays?!
There are so many talented primitive artist that I have learned from online that I feel the need to give thanks...Thanks. Lilliemae's crafts (awesome site, everything's free!!), the sisterhood of Prim Chat Radio -listen to them on the 1st and 3rd Monday each month or check out the archived shows (funny ladies-guaranteed to make you laugh!!) and the talented group of crafters that would gladly and whole heartily answer any quandaries on a prim forum called a Primitive Journey started by a neat lady, Diane. and the very cool and prim ladies of my two etsy groups pafa and ofg teams! just to name a few...thanks girls!!

I'll check in next week but in the mean time, To all the Mama's out there...Happy Mother's Day!!! My dear hubby is taking me and a map and we are going antiquing!! Isn't he great!!! I'll let you know what I find!
C U Then!!

Hello Fellow Prim Lovers and Happy Monday to Ya!

What a great Easter Weekend! I hope you all got to spend it with the ones you love. We held Easter on Saturday this year due to my family's work schedule and a good thing we did. The sky was blue and the temps were in the mid 70s. Easter Sunday didn't see a dry minute...
We dragged the patio furniture outside for the first time this year and soaked up some vitamin D. Even the dogs wanted to stay outside.

They lounged about in the back yard stretching and rolling in the green grass. Ever so excited to see each family member make his way back home. I say "his" way back home because I am the only female in my family. I am surrounded by males! Even the dogs, Charlie and Buddy are males! My kids, Justin and Cody are 18 and 22. Hmmm...still a ways to go before they are married. My hubby, Chris and my sweet old Daddy and then there's little ole me. Hopin' and a prayin' for daughter in laws and granddaughters some day!! ya know to even the teams out!

So what did everyone make for Easter Dinner this year? Well, we had enough food to feed an army! I made a turkey with stuffing and all the fixings and a Jenny-o turkey ham with roasted carrots, brocolli and cauliflower and red skinned potatoes (for my sweet old daddy who is recently healing from a triple bypass). If you want to eat a heart healthy diet, I reccommend Jenny-o turkey products, they're YUMMY! I made angelfood cake with strawberries and sugarfree coolwhip (you'd never know this dessert is rather healthy! Shh-don't tell the kids!)

Buddy's birthday also fell on Easter this year so of course I had to make him a cake too! and you know how much beagles love bunnies! He is 5 years old now...35 in dog years, right?

After everyone ate and it was time to go I packed up all the leftovers and sent them on their merry little ways so I don't have a fridge packed full of food I really don't want to eat for the next three days! Win-Win!
Isn't it funny how we complain when the kids live at home to quit eating us out of house and home and then when they move out we can't seem to feed them enough...ha! life is so funny!
Enough about me and my crew lets talk some Prim!

I took a detour to Goodwill the other day (when I was suppossed to be "grocery shopping" heehee) and found a great prim bowl/wheelbarrel. If you know me then you know how much I love wheelbarrels!!Whoever invented them rocks!
How cool is that! I think I'll put some homespun rag balls in it...what do you think? any suggestions?

I haven't added any new items to my etsy shop lately though I do have five different projects going and need to finish them up before I can post them. and the reason for the delay is because I also have about twenty ideas swarming about in my mind for other projects.
Do you ever do that?
Right now I should be concentrating on Mothers Day items, Springtime and Americana projects. What am I working on? I'm sewing three witch ornies, a crow and a snowman! Talk about the other end of the spectrum! Ok the pressure is on to get back on track! I will post new items to angelbugprims (my etsy shop) and also here, by the end of this week-I promise! So I had better get going and get some prim work done! C U Then!
